Tips for your baby's first wardrobe

Getting ready for the arrival of the new baby is an important step and for that very reason DOT created a collection that will spoil your baby up until the age of two. Beautiful, high quality and comfortable clothes made with special attention to detail, our collection will ensure the maximum comfort for your baby.

Having a new baby can already be a ‘scary’ adventure so we’re here to help you out! The best way to dress a baby is in layers, so you can remove or add any if the baby gets too hot or cold. Most parents tend to cover their babies too much, so in order to find an ideal temperature dressing the baby in layers will help avoid this problem. Also do remember newborns tend to sleep up to eighteen hours a day so simple, easy to dress clothes based on comfort and practicality are the best for your baby’s first wardrobe. All our bodysuits and vests are made in 100% cotton in order to avoid allergies. You will probably need more than you think, it’s a good idea to have plenty of spares for when your baby brings up milk and with all the frequent nappy changes! There’s nothing worse at these times than to find you don’t have your washing up to date!

Please see below a useful list of what your newborn will need:

  • +/-6 Sleep suits
  • +/- 6 Bodysuits
  • +/- 3 Vests (an extra layer especially good if its winter time)
  • +/- 3 Cardigans
  • +/- 2 Hats/bonnets
  • +/- 5 pairs of socks or woollen shoes
  • +/- 2 blankets
  • +/- 5 Bibs
  • Plenty of burp cloths!
  • Cute day sets – as many as you like!

Please remember all newborn clothes should be washed with neutral soap, no bleach or softeners should be used. Any big labels, or even those small in inadequate places should be cut off, for example on the back neck. Also remember newborn clothes should be ironed on both sides.
